Who we are

Subleaux is an independent informational and matching site for LSU and Southern University (SU) students in Baton Rouge. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting for LSU, Southern University, or any property or management company.

We never act on anyone's behalf in a lease takeover. We share information and help students find each other. You deal directly with the property, and the property makes every approval and screening decision.

What we store

• Your student email (ending in @lsu.edu or @subr.edu), used to send your one-time sign-in code and, if you leave the setting on, a short "you have a new message" notice. We never show it to other students.
• Your display name and campus: the first name or nickname you pick, and LSU or Southern based on your email.
• Your listings: the property, rent, dates, unit details, incentive, description, and status. Listings are visible to anyone browsing the site.
• Messages you send to and receive from other students, and who you've blocked.
• Reports: when you report a listing or a student, we store your report and a copy of the listing or the recent messages involved so a moderator can review it.
• A session cookie that keeps you signed in. It's a random ID, marked secure and httpOnly, and the session it points to is stored on our server.
• Short-lived security records: hashed sign-in codes (they expire after 10 minutes) and rate-limit counters keyed to your email or IP address to stop abuse.

Data is stored on our own server in the United States. Sign-in emails are delivered by an email provider that sees your address and the email's text, which never includes message content.

How we use it

• To verify that you control an LSU or Southern email address.
• To show your listing to other students and let them contact you.
• To deliver messages between students and to deal with spam, scams, or abuse reports.

What we don't do

• We don't sell your information.
• We don't share it with properties, management companies, or the universities to act for you. You contact the property yourself.
• We don't use property photos or logos, and we don't use private or insider data about properties.

Analytics and cookies

Subleaux doesn't use any analytics, ad trackers, or tracking pixels. The only cookie we set is the sign-in session cookie described above, and only after you sign in. Our fonts are served from our own server, not loaded from a third party.

Like most websites, the servers that host Subleaux may keep basic technical logs (such as IP address, browser type, and the pages requested) for security and troubleshooting. If we ever add analytics or cookies, we'll update this page first.

Links to property websites, leasing portals, and management companies open their sites, which have their own privacy policies.

Where property information comes from

Property details come from public sources, such as property websites, public policy pages, and FAQs. In the future they may also come from written replies to general information requests we send to properties. This information can be out of date, so always confirm with the property. See how we get our data.

Deleting your information

You can delete your account at any time from your account page. That permanently deletes your account, your listings, and your conversations. Reports you filed stay, without your name, so moderators can still act on them. Listings also disappear from browse automatically after their lease end date. Questions? Email hello@subleaux.com.
